Disciples of the Way is a Christ-centered, affirming community in Hephzibah, Georgia,
rooted in the Disciples of Christ tradition. We believe that God’s love is wide, Christ’s
Table is open, and the Spirit leads us toward justice, compassion, and radical welcome.
We gather as ordinary people seeking to follow Jesus in a curious way welcoming all,
serving our neighbors, and building a world that reflects God’s wholeness.
Our Mission
We welcome all to Christ’s Table, work for justice, and serve with compassion as a
movement for wholeness in a broken world.
This mission shapes everything we do our worship, our service, our advocacy, our
relationships, and the way we show up in our community. We believe faith is not just a
belief we hold; it is a way of life that we practice together.
Our Vision
A community where everyone belongs, justice is love in action, and the marginalized are
honored as bearers of God’s image.
We envision a church that reflects the heart of Jesus:
- where every person is welcomed with dignity,
- where reconciliation replaces division,
- where the poor and the oppressed are centered—not overlooked—
- and where healing flows from our life together into the neighborhoods we serve.
Our Core Values
Radical Welcome
All are welcome — no exceptions.
We affirm the full inclusion of all God’s children, regardless of race, national origin,
gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, or economic circumstance. Christ’s Table
is open to everyone, and so are we.
Justice & Compassion
We stand with the oppressed and serve with love.
Following Jesus means responding to the hurt in our world with courage, tenderness,
and action. We serve the poor, advocate for equity, and work for peace.
Faith In Action
We live what we believe.
Our discipleship is active. We follow the life and teachings of Jesus through service,
advocacy, forgiveness, reconciliation, and the pursuit of God’s kingdom on earth.
Unity In Diversity
Different voices, one Table.
As Disciples, we honor freedom of belief, celebrate diverse perspectives, and gather as
one family at the Lord’s Table. What unites us is Christ’s love.
Wholeness For All
Healing the world through God’s love.
We strive to embody God’s grace in every relationship and ministry, working toward
healing; personal, communal, and systemic.
Stewardship & Service
We give generously because God has given generously to us.
We care for our time, our gifts, our resources, and our neighbors. Service is not an
obligation—it is our joyful response to God’s love.
Our Identity
We are part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)—a movement for wholeness in
a fragmented world. At Disciples of the Way, that movement looks like:
- An open Table every Sunday
- A community where questions are welcome
- A commitment to justice rooted in Scripture
- A sanctuary for the marginalized
- Service that flows beyond the church walls
- A family where you can belong, grow, and serve
